The patterns in the Enneagram model describe what Tom Condon calls "Reality Strategies". These develop early in life, shaped by innate temperament and by the nature of the early holding environment. 

These strategies were once marvellous adaptations, but the significant problem is that, in the adult here and now, they are a defence against a past that no longer exists. 

Used well, the Enneagram becomes a tool for understanding and freeing us from outdated forms of consciousness and distorted preoccupations. The ultimate gift it offers is the freedom of more intentional life.

Ingrid Huwitz (M.A., PhD., Johannesburg, South Africa)

Ingrid is an Enneagram teacher, coach and consultant with over two decades of experience in Human Potential work. She has a background in Strategy, Learning, OD and Leadership Development, both in Corporate Senior Management roles and independently as the Founding Director of Takdir Transformation.

Ingrid uses and teaches the Enneagram in alignment with trauma-sensitive principles and processes to enable individual and collective transformation.

She recently completed a trans-disciplinary PhD (University of Johannesburg, publication 2026 pending!) integrating the Enneagram, Cognitive Science, and Spirituality, and is a frequent guest speaker at global International Enneagram Conferences.
